Compulsory social insurance for motherhood and childhood had been introduced in Kazakhstan as of 2008.
Starting in 2008, 2,3 million people received social benefits for pregnancy and childbirth in the total amount of 808,5 billion tenge; as well as 3,3 million people received social benefits in the total amount of 922 billion tenge in the case of job loss due to caring for a child until the age of 1 from the State social insurance fund.
To create convenience for mothers, various methods of applying for benefits have been implemented - through the e-government portal egov.kz, PSC, mobile applications of second-tier banks (Kaspi Bank and Halyk Bank), in a proactive format by giving consent via text message to receive the service.
