At the beginning of the year, about 203.3 billion tenge was allocated from the republican budget for the payment of state social benefits (hereinafter referred to as SSB) for disability and survivors social benefits. In addition, social payments in the amount of about 25 billion tenge were made from the State Social Insurance Fund (hereinafter - SSIF) for disability and survivors social benefits.

As of June 1, 2023, the number of recipients of SSB for disability is about 535.6 thousand people, in case of survivors social benefits – about 197.3 thousand people.

The amount of SSB for disability depends on the group and cause of disability, as well as on the amount of the subsistence minimum established by the law "On the Republican Budget" for the corresponding fiscal year.

The amount of SSB for survivors social benefits depends on the number of dependents of the deceased, the cause of death and the amount of the subsistence minimum.

At the same time, the amount of SSB for disability and survivors social benefits has been increased by 8.5% since January 1, 2023 due to an increase of the subsistence minimum.

For example, from January 1, 2023, the size of the SSB for disability from a common disease is 77,889 tenge for 1 group; 62,068 tenge for 2 group; 42,190 tenge for 3 group.

In addition, participants in the compulsory social insurance system receive social payments from the SSIF in case of social risks. So, according to the results of 5 months of this year, 90.8 thousand people received social benefits for disability, and about 59.2 thousand families received survivors social benefits. 

The amounts of contributions are individual and depend on: the average monthly income from which social contributions were made to the SSIF for the last 2 years, the coefficients of disability, the number of dependents, the length of participation in the compulsory social insurance system and income replacement.

These contributions are made in addition to similar benefits paid from the republican budget, their amounts have also been increased by 8.5% since January 1, 2023 by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

For today, the average amount of social benefits for disability is 33,395 tenge, survivors social benefits – 34,405 tenge.
