As of March 1, 2022, the number of recipients of social benefits from the State Social Insurance Fund (hereinafter - SSIF) in the event of job loss amounted to 25.2 thousand people, while 18.5 thousand citizens received benefits for the first time this year. This was reported by the INA "Kazinform" with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In accordance with the current legislation, laid-off workers receive social benefits for the loss of a job for up to 6 months, depending on the length of participation in the compulsory social insurance system and their income for the last 24 months. The social benefits are paid out at the expense of the State Social Insurance Fund in the amount of up to 40% of the lost income. 

To assign benefits to a dismissed employee, one must log in to the eGov.kz portal; in the section "Employment" select the service "Registration of job seekers"; request the service online by filling in all the fields and send the application by signing it with an EDS; within one day, the employment center (hereinafter - EC) will offer vacancies at the place of residence of the applicant; if a job is not found, the status of unemployed will be remotely assigned within three working days (if necessary, employment centre staff will contact the person for collection of additional information). 

This service can also be obtained online through the job board (enbek.kz). 

If there is information about a person being registered as an unemployed, the MLSP information system will send a text message to the mobile phone of a person for consent to provide the service for assigning benefits from the State Social Insurance Fund in a proactive format. If the person agrees, he/she must reply to the message. The benefits will be assigned automatically. 

We remind that the social benefits in the event of job loss at the expense of the State Social Insurance Fund is carried out regardless of the reasons for dismissal and is intended to support an unemployed person during the period when he/she is looking for a job. 

As previously reported, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan launched a functionality for the remote provision of services by employment centers through the job board. 

This made it possible to simplify the procedures for registering the unemployed and receiving public services to support employment, including social benefits for the loss of a job. Currently all these can be done online with an electronic digital signature.
