Since the introduction of the mandatory social insurance system in Kazakhstan, almost 4 million people have received social payments from the "State Social Insurance Fund" (SSIF) totaling more than 905 billion tenge.

“Social contributions are not withheld from the employee’s salary, they are paid at the expense of the employer, that is, the employee does not spend his own funds,” Saule Dyusenova, president of the "State Social Insurance Fund" JSC (SSIF) said in the Central Communications Service.

The rate of social contributions is 3.5%.

“If there are no deductions, then the employee has the right and obligation to demand from the employer that the employer make social contributions in a timely manner and in full. If social contributions are not transferred by the employer in a timely manner and in full, then the employee has the right to apply to the tax authority that monitors the timeliness and completeness of employers' contributions. Also, an employee can apply with a statement to labor inspectors who have the right to come to the employer, and even apply administrative measures to influence the employer” said the President of the SSIF.

As of January 1, 2018, social contributions were paid for 5.9 million people.
